In these pages I collect my additions and variants for the board game
1825. These include new versions of some components that simplify
play, my interpretations of ambiguous rules, some variations of my own
and links to other people's ideas. If you don't know what 1825 is, the
About 1825 page gives a short explanation.
Most of the rest of the material here won't be particularly interesting
unless you play or intend to buy the game.
Updated
22nd
October 2009: I added a photo that showed some of my
variant kits in use. I also
uploaded a set of share certificates for
1829 Mainline. See the Site history page for a full list of
updates.

Much as I like playing 1825, I have to admit that some of its
components are not as good as other 18xx games. I
have designed company charters, new share price indices
and some miscellaneous bits and pieces that make the
game easier to play.
|
I have written an Excel spreadsheet for keeping track of
players' income during operating rounds. It produces
tailored worksheets for the number of players and companies in
play. |

For the most part, the rules for 1825 are clear enough.
There are some rough edges, mainly arising from the fact that
the game was published in several modules and kits over several
years. I have collected my interpretations of potentially
ambiguous rules and present them here. |
I enjoy trying changes to the base 1825 system. Some of these are minor
variants that I use every time and highly recommend. Others
are more radical possibilities that provide interesting changes.
Some are speculative and need more playtesting.
